Chelsea supporters rattled after Loftus-Cheek makes exit admission

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has upset Chelsea supporters after he made comments about his exit from the London club.

The AC Milan midfielder struggled for minutes and indeed fitness while at Stamford Bridge, after coming through the Cobham academy.

if he had his time again he would have left Chelsea at 15 or 16 to go and play regular football.

The 28-year-old, who had loan spells with Crystal Palace and Fulham during his time at Chelsea, made 155 appearances for the side, providing 30 goal contributions along the way.

Loftus-Cheek left Chelsea for Milan last summer. He enjoyed a fine inaugural season, scoring ten goals in 43 competitive games.

And in a recent interview with The Times, the Englishman touched on what he would have done differently at Chelsea. “I think if you’re a youngster, seven or eight years old, and you’ve signed with Chelsea, fantastic because it’s a great academy and you’ll learn how to play football and you’ll develop your skills there, and a great coach is coaching you.

“But it gets to a point, maybe at 15, 16, where you’re getting to that stage where it’s youth-team football and you might want to start thinking about going and playing somewhere else. Because it’s very difficult now to just go straight through, and the best way to develop is by playing games and playing men’s football.

“And it’s easier to do that somewhere else at a lower club. And I feel like that’s what I missed out on, I think. Yes [if I had his time again, I would've made that switch at 15 or 16 and leave Chelsea.]"

Loftus-Cheek's comments have caused a stir among the Blues fans, who have took to social media to hit out at their former player.

Despite the relatively tame words from the footballer, some supporters have taken him to task over his words about leaving earlier.
