Forgotten Chelsea star given January exit route
Chelsea could finally have a taker for one of their unwanted stars in the January transfer window despite Enzo Maresca already performing a u-turn over the player.
The Blues were criticised for their huge squad size over the summer and a host of players were told to train alone as part of a ‘bomb squad’ of stars who were deemed as surplus to requirements by Maresca.
However, while Chelsea were able to get rid of the likes of Raheem Sterling and Trevoh Chalobah, Ben Chilwell was a player who could not find a new team before the end of the transfer window.

The 27-year-old was told by Maresca early in the summer that he was not part of his plans for the season but no interest materialised into a significant bid.
And reports out of Italy have claimed that Chilwell could be offered an escape plan out of Stamford Bridge by Inter, who are hoping to sign the England international on a six-month loan in January.
Interlive.it state that Inter would also be open to exploring a deal worth €25 million, although he is not considered their top priority.
Chilwell back in Chelsea first team
Despite initially being exiled during the summer, Maresca confirmed that Chilwell was back training with Chelsea’s squad and would be considered for selection ‘game-by-game’.
He said: "Ben is one of the guys who was ready to leave, but he’s here and he’s training with us. He’s training well. He’s our player.

“The situation with him was very clear, but now the situation has changed a little bit. Game after game we are going to consider in case we are going to use him.”
The likes of Manchester United and Fenerbahce were among the sides linked with Chilwell during the summer but the defender’s wages, combined with his struggles with injuries in recent times, meant a deal proved unconvincing to interested sides.
