The Danish left-back has burst onto the scene over the past 12 months and recently netted his first senior goal for his country. He joined Serie A outfit Lecce last summer and quickly emerged as one of Italy's breakout stars.

The 19-year-old has been frequently linked with a move to Europe's elite and particularly the Premier League. Already in the winter, plenty of speculation surrounded the young Dane, with several big-name sides interested.

He ultimately stayed put in January and again this summer. Fabrizio Romano revealed last week that this was simply down to Lecce's demands and not to a lack of interest.

Lecce demand hefty fee

Romano confirmed the long-standing interest of Tottenham and Chelsea, with the latter a particularly interesting potential destination as Dorgu is a boyhood Blues fan.

Now, TEAMtalk claims that Lecce are determined to hand Dorgu a fresh new contract to tie him to the club long-term and to drive his price up even further.

The outlet states that the Italian side are aware of how difficult it could be to get the sought-after youngster to agree to fresh terms, but they will nevertheless try.

Despite these efforts, Lecce are not totally averse to selling. However, it is asserted that it would require an 'irresistible offer' to get them to agree to a deal, with Dorgu valued at €40 million by the Serie A minnows.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea or Tottenham will return for the teenager. But if, as Romano claimed, they baulked at Lecce's previous demands, it is difficult to imagine them being willing to part with potentially an even larger fee.
