Erling Haaland’s new Barcelona and Real Madrid release clause
Erling Haaland is in talks over a new contract with Manchester City, but the deal will include a new and lower release clause that the Norwegian plans to use in the future in order to join Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Haaland’s current deal expires in 2027 and that contract already includes a release clause.
According to Marca, the striker is now sitting down to extend his contract but is demanding his clause to be decreased.
Haaland wants to move to La Liga in the next seasons to join either Barcelona or Real Madrid, both of whom wanted to sign him when he left Borussia Dortmund for Man City in 2022.

Haaland scored an incredible 90 goals in 98 games in his first two seasons at Man City, winning every major trophy in the club game, including two Premier League titles and a Champions League.
He has also started the current season in brilliant form, with seven goals in four matches.
But it is widely accepted that Haaland will not stay at the Etihad for the long term.

His agent Rafaela Pimenta admitted earlier this year that Haaland sees a future move to Madrid as something of a dream.
“There is the Premier League, and there is Real Madrid, and Real Madrid has something of its own that makes it the dreamland for the players,” Pimenta said.
“Madrid keeps this magic going. It doesn’t have the league competition but it does have the Champions League.
“In my agency, we try to make a plan. We have to make a plan. We need to have a goal. Maybe we won’t achieve it but if we don’t know where we’re going, for sure we don’t get there.
Haaland release clause
Haaland has a release clause that came into effect in this summer of 2024 that is worth €200 million.
According to The Athletic, that release clause is only valid for clubs outside of the Premier League.
It is also reported that the release clause will decrease each year after it was activated in 2024.
Haaland reportedly has a second minimum fee release clause that will be activated in the summer of 2025 that stands at €175m. It will then decrease again in 2026.
But Marca reports that Haaland’s new planned contract at Man City will see these release clauses decrease substantially, opening the door for him to join Barcelona or Real Madrid.
