Salah is out of contract in 2025 and Arne Slot’s side are pursuing a move for former Chelsea star Pulisic, according to Calciomercato, as they prepare for life without the Egypt international.

The USA forward spent four years at Chelsea before moving to Milan for €20 million last summer, and he has started the 2024-25 campaign in fine form.

Pulisic, 26, has three goals and two assists in five Serie A appearances so far this season, while he scored in Milan’s 3-1 Champions League defeat to Liverpool last week.

Liverpool’s interest in the American comes after Salah’s recent admission that he could leave Anfield next summer.

After the Reds’ 3-0 win over Manchester United at the start of September, Salah told Sky Sports: “I had a good summer and had a long time to myself to try to stay positive because as you know it's my last year at the club.

“I just want to enjoy it and I don't want to think about it. I feel like I'm free to play football and then we'll see what happens next year.

“Coming into the game, I said it could be the last time [I play here with Liverpool].

“No-one at the club has spoken to me about contracts, so I'm just like: 'Okay, I'm playing my last season' and see what happens at the end of the season.

“It's not up to me, but nobody's talked to me from the club. We will see.”

’Christian Pulisic is world class’

Pulisic’s form at the start of this campaign has prompted USMNT legend Alexi Lalas to brand him “world class.”

He told his State of the Union show (via GOAL): “What is world class? Well, you've got your definition, I have my definition. But if you want to know what world class is, it's Christian Pulisic.

“In this moment right now, he's got either a goal or an assist in his last five games. I think he's playing his best soccer of his career.

“And I'm telling you right now, Christian Pulisic at this moment is one of the top 25 players in the world. He just happens to be American.”
