After Man Utd snub: Ten Hag favourite in 'embarrassing' transfer situation
France coach Didier Deschamps believes that Adrien Rabiot has put himself in an 'embarrassing situation' by remaining a free agent for so long.
The midfielder finally departed Juventus this summer upon the expiration of his contract. Already in previous years, Rabiot toyed with the idea of heading for greener pastures before ultimately deciding to sign an extension in Turin.
This summer was different, however. The 29-year-old - or perhaps his eccentric mother and agent Veronique - decided that the money on offer from Juventus wasn't good enough and rejected the chance to sign another extension.

Since then, transfer speculation has been rampant but precious little has actually materialised. With the season now in full swing, Rabiot is reportedly still on vacation and, crucially, without a club.
Deschamps on 'embarrassing situation'
Links to Man Utd have been inevitable as Erik ten Hag is a known admirer of the midfielder, having already tried and failed to sign him in previous years.
However, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Red Devils actually passed up the opportunity to sign Rabiot despite being offered his services several times over the summer.

The former Man City prospect dreams of playing in the Premier League, but his wage demands have priced clubs out of a move. Given his predicament, Rabiot has been omitted from France's squad for the current international break.
According to head coach Didier Deschamps, it was impossible to call up the 29-year-old despite usually being a regular starter due to his 'embarrassing situation.'
“Rabiot has a bit of an embarrassing situation," he said. "He was of interest to many clubs but right now is not training with anyone. I hope he can quickly choose a club so that I can bring him back here with us.”
