Adrien Rabiot: Romano makes Man Utd guarantee amid Barcelona links
Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Manchester United and Barcelona links with Adrien Rabiot.
The Frenchman's future remains up in the air. The transfer windows in Europe's big five leagues have closed but Rabiot is still free to sign for interested clubs as he is unattached following the expiration of his Juventus contract.
The 29-year-old has been the subject of rampant speculation for months and, indeed, years. A long-time Man Utd target, the midfielder has also been associated with the likes of Barcelona, Galatasaray, Arsenal and Liverpool in recent days and weeks.

However, precious little has materialised regarding a transfer and Rabiot remains a free agent. Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the situation of the former Man City academy graduate who dreams of playing in the Premier League.
Man Utd not keen on Rabiot
Rabiot has once again been linked to Man Utd in light of reported interest in Christian Eriksen, but transfer expert Romano has played down suggestions that the Red Devils could move for him.
They were offered his services several times but always rejected the chance to sign him, he claims. As for Barcelona, they simply can't afford Rabiot.

"In the press, they were saying maybe Christian Eriksen leaves and Adrien Rabiot can go to Manchester United. I can guarantee to you that Adrien Rabiot was offered to Man Utd several times over the summer, in July, in August, but the position of Man Utd is still very clear on that one.
"So, they never thought of Eriksen out and Rabiot in. Also on Adrien Rabiot, many questions about Barcelona, many questions about Real Madrid. I can guarantee that for Barcelona, the Financial Fair Play is creating problems. So I know you can say, yeah, but Rabiot is a free agent. Yes, free agent, but the salary is very big.
"Imagine that Rabiot rejected €7 million net from Juventus. And also there is a commission, as always in football, especially when players are free. So Rabiot in this moment for Financial Fair Play for Barcelona is something they can't do...Also Real Madrid were not considering to advance for Adrian Rabiot so that was never a concrete negotiation, a concrete story."
