Man Utd prefer Mount over 'once-in-a-century' superstar
Jamal Musiala is a 'once-in-a-century' footballer, according to Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer.
The wonderkid continues to be the subject of intense speculation in the German footballing media and beyond. Musiala is out of contract in 2026 and talks over an extension have been slow to pick up again after Bayern fired their management in mid-2023.
On Wednesday, it was revealed that these negotiations had at last officially restarted, which came as a big blow to the 21-year-old's many suitors. Bayern are confident of tying Musiala down to fresh terms, though they are well aware that he is of interest to pretty much every major club around Europe.

Man City and Real Madrid are just two of the clubs that have been heavily linked with the attacking midfielder. Man Utd have been associated with him too, but a stunning report earlier this week asserted that the Red Devils are content with keeping the faith in Mason Mount, who has yet to have any kind of impact at Old Trafford.
This decision looks like it could really come back to haunt them.
Musiala a 'once-in-a-century' player
Musiala has gone from strength to strength under new Bayern boss Vincent Kompany, who has made the German international the heartbeat of his side.
The Bavarian giants want Musiala to be the face of their project for many years to come and they already view him as their most important player, so handing him a fresh deal is a real priority.

As such, club bosses have launched a major charm offensive in public and president Herbert Hainer has become the latest Bayern bigwig to wax lyrical about Musiala.
Speaking to Abendzeitung, he said: "I have to say that we love our Jamal more than anything. He is a once-in-a-century footballer and our main aim is of course to tie him to FC Bayern in the long term."
