"Newcastle United's recruitment team continue to watch Atalanta's Brazilian midfielder, Ederson.
"It is thought that the club could make a move for the defensive midfielder in summer 2025, providing other players are moved on to make room for him."
Ederson was linked extensively to United in the summer. There was even a story which suggested that they had submitted a €50 million offer for the midfielder despite the imminent arrival of Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte.

Ederson's interest in Ederson
However, although a deal for Ugarte materialised, United remain interested in Atalanta’s Ederson and it was said in the summer they even submitted a €50m bid for the Brazilian, according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla.
In fact, the Red Devils reportedly lodged a proposal to sign him during a meeting to settle paperwork regarding Rasmus Hojlund’s move to Old Trafford last summer.
The Dane joined United in a deal worth €74 million back in the summer of 2023. The youngster has been hit-and-miss in terms of finding the net but his potential is very clear.
United and Atalanta have a good working relationship. In January 2021, United signed winger Amad Diallo from the Italian club for around €25 million, potentially rising to €40 million with add-ons.
