Salah, along with fellow Reds Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, is out of contract next summer and therefore liable to depart as a free agent. He can open talks with foreign clubs from the beginning of January as things stand.

The 32-year-old has been hotly tipped to complete a move to the Saudi Pro League, where there is reportedly a huge contract offer waiting for him.

Salah, according to the Liverpool Echo, is ready to spurn such advances and stay at Anfield if he is offered a new contract.

“It is understood Salah is desperate to extend his stay at Liverpool beyond this summer,” it states.

Why Salah will reject Saudi megabucks

There are numerous reasons why the Egypt international star, who has an Estimated Transfer Value of €30 million is desperate to stay with the club.

One of those is that the player’s family feel so settled in the area, with one anonymous source stating: “He's speaking about his daughter being from Liverpool. She is one of the city's people in his eyes.”

Furthermore, he has looked at the experience of former Anfield teammate Sadio Mane in Saudi Arabia and has decided that it is not for him. The Senegal star has struggled to settle and was even earmarked to leave Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr towards the end of the transfer market, although no deal was ever done.

Saudi’s poor crowds, lack of worldwide interest and overall standard, meanwhile, are all said to count against Salah’s decision to move to the Middle East, despite the prospect of him being welcomed as a hero.

He is also unlikely to be drawn by a massive contract, the Echo argues, as he already earns €1.2 million-a-week at Anfield when all his commercial interests are taken into account.
