Real Madrid are determined to ensure that Alphonso Davies does not slip away from them like Leny Yoro.

Los Blancos had to accept a rare defeat on the transfer market in the summer when French wonderkid Yoro joined Manchester United. Real Madrid had been courting the defender for months but their attempts at low-balling Lille backfired when the Red Devils offered as much as €70 million.

The youngster, despite dreaming of becoming a Galactico, was eventually convinced to head to Old Trafford instead. Now, Real Madrid are desperate to make sure that a similar situation does not transpire with Alphonso Davies.

The Bayern Munich left-back is out of contract next summer, as Yoro would have been, and the LaLiga champions have positioned themselves to sign him on a free transfer after refusing to make a formal bid during the previous window.

Real Madrid in pole position

According to Relevo, Real Madrid still find themselves in pole position to land Davies, but they are well aware that Premier League clubs are also circling.

Despite only re-signing Fran Garcia in 2023, Real Madrid want their future left-back options to be Davies and Ferland Mendy, who is on the verge of committing his future to the club.

The Spanish outlet reports that talks over a new deal between the Canadian and Bayern are virtually 'non-existent' and that the Bundesliga giants have resigned to losing the 23-year-old.

It is claimed that Davies is 'delighted' with Real Madrid's interest, but Premier League clubs may present better financial offers. Los Blancos are the favourites to secure his signature, yet after the Yoro incident, they know that they need to put in significant effort to ensure that he does eventually put pen to paper in January.
