Angry Osimhen agent blasts Chelsea 'mistake'
Victor Osimhen’s agent has claimed that “someone made a mistake” in the summer such that the Nigeria international wound up at Galatasaray on loan from Napoli and not at Chelsea or PSG.
Antonio Caliendo also says that the 25-year-old was treated “treated like a discarded shoe”.
Osimhen was linked with a big-money move from the Serie A club to Chelsea or PSG, yet he finds himself in Turkey until at least January and potentially until the end of the season.
The striker is making the most of his situation. He produced an assist on debut in the Super Lig before helping Galatasaray to a famous derby victory over Fenerbahce last weekend. On his European bow for the club, he instigated an own goal before creating the winner against PAOK with an intelligent header across goal.
Nevertheless, this is not the stage that Osimhen expected to be playing his football on.
Osimhen agent hits out
“If I’m honest, the first time I saw him play for Napoli, I told my friend that one day he would cost €200 million,” agent Caliendo told Kiss Kiss Napoli (via TuttoNapoli).
“At the moment, thanks to the Napoli board, who took care of his summer, he transfer operation was disappointing, going into the market as if he were a discarded show.
“He should have been the leading man of the world transfer market but he was not managed in the right way.
“Those who managed him told president Aurelio De Laurentiis about his multi-million dollar transfer and he trusted them.
“There was talk of Chelsea, of PSG, and in the end he went to Galatasaray, so someone made a mistake.”
Osimhen’s strong start to life in Turkey suggests that interest is bound to follow during the January transfer market, but it remains to be seen whether the comes to anything concrete and how Napoli will deal with the situation next time around.
