Gyokeres makes HUGE transfer decision amid Arsenal, Chelsea & Man Utd interest

Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres is reportedly ready to sign a new long-term contract with the club, despite significant interest from multiple top Premier League clubs.

The Sweden international joined Sporting from Coventry City last summer and he scored 43 goals in all competitions during his debut campaign in Portugal, while he also registered 15 assists.

Gyokeres’ form attracted the attention of several clubs across Europe and Arsenal identified the 26-year-old as a key target in early 2024.

The Gunners eventually decided against matching his price tag during the summer transfer window and Gyokeres is now ready to sign a new long-term deal with Sporting, according to HITC.

His existing deal with the Portuguese giants isn’t due to expire until 2028, but the Sweden forward is reportedly keen to commit his future to the club.

HITC report that Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur all monitored Gyokeres’ situation closely this summer, however they opted against seriously pursuing a move.

Viktor Gyokeres to stay at Sporting CP?

Ruben Amorim’s decision to stay at Sporting, despite interest from Premier League clubs, has reportedly impacted Gyokeres’ decision to stay, with the 26-year-old eager to continue his development in Lisbon.

Gyokeres already has seven goals and three assists in just five appearances this season, including a hat-trick against Farense on 23 August.

Meanwhile, the Sweden international’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €25.6m - which has risen sharply from an ETV of €7.4m during the final month of his spell at Coventry.

Although Gyokeres’ goal-scoring exploits have attracted interest from the Premier League’s biggest clubs, he seems set to sign a new contract with Sporting to end speculation of a move away in 2025.

As a result, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen will likely be targeted by English top flight clubs yet again.
