Fabrizio Romano claims that Bayern Munich need a 'miracle' to keep hold of Alphonso Davies.

The Canadian looks increasingly likely to leave the Bundesliga in 2025. Davies is on an expiring contract and Bayern Munich have thus far failed to reach an agreement with the left-back.

Davies' form has improved under Vincent Kompany but not to the point where the German giants are willing to match his massive €20 million-per-season wage demands.

This has attracted the attention of Barcelona, Man Utd and Real Madrid, with the two Spanish sides in particular courting Davies for quite some time. Signing the 23-year-old will be pricey despite it nominally being a 'free' transfer, but he nevertheless has no shortage of suitors.

Bayern have left the door open for renewed negotiations over a contract extension, but Fabrizio Romano has now all but shut down any hope of the defender staying in Munich beyond 2025.

Bayern need a 'miracle'

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano has claimed that Bayern would need a 'miracle' to get Davies to agree to a new deal, while he also confirmed that Barcelona had a meeting with the player's camp.

"[Talks over a new contract] are not advancing at all and it's the end of October, so you can imagine how complicated a new contract for Davies at Bayern is. The feeling of all the sources involved is that Davies is going to leave Bayern as a free agent," he said.

"To change the situation, it would take a miracle from Bayern and at the moment, the situation is still really tense, really complicated between Bayern and Davies. Let's see if they can fix the situation, but sources say there is a 10 per cent chance, no more than this.

"The expectation is for Davies to go on a free transfer. We know about the interest from Real Madrid, they were there in the summer, but they never wanted to spend more than €25m, €30m. They were never going to pay €60m, €50m for Davies out of contract...

"There is still interest also from the Premier League for Davies, so he's going to consider all the possibilities, all the options. Hansi Flick, former Bayern manager, still has a very good relationship with Davies.

"What I can tell you is that it's true that Barcelona had a meeting with people close to Davies, but it was many months ago, it was after the January transfer window, so a long time ago Barca had a contact to understand the situation of Davies."
