Barcelona president Joan Laporta has tipped Chelsea forward Marc Guiu to return to the club, despite his summer move to Stamford Bridge.

Guiu left Camp Nou to join Chelsea for just €6 million in July, but he has endured a tricky start to life in England.

The 18-year-old caught the eye in pre-season, however opportunities have been extremely limited since the 2024-25 campaign began, with Enzo Maresca favouring Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku.

Guiu has made five first-team appearances so far this season, although he has been excluded from Chelsea’s matchday squad in four of their last five Premier League fixtures.

The Spain U19 international is yet to score his first competitive goal for the Blues and rumours of a January loan move have circulated amid his lack of game time at Stamford Bridge.

Laporta has also weighed in on Guiu’s current situation and has urged the Barcelona academy product to consider a Camp Nou return.

He told Barca One: “Marc Guiu? Listen, any player who wants to leave Barca, the doors are open for him. There’s no other place like Barca and they will realise it later.”

Guiu racked up seven senior appearances for Barcelona during his time at the club, scoring two goals in all competitions, but he opted to leave following interest from Chelsea.

Guiu was also linked with a Chelsea exit just weeks after joining the club, with several La Liga clubs interested in signing him on loan.

However, the Spaniard was eager to prove himself in the Premier League.

He told reporters: “I still don’t know if I will go on loan, but I think I'm ready for the Premier League.

“It was a tough decision to leave Barca, for sure - but I always wanted to play in the Premier League. I hope to stay, I’m working for it.”
