CONFIRMED: Man Utd in contact with Man City’s dream Guardiola heir to replace Ten Hag
Manchester United are already in contact with numerous potential replacements for manager Erik ten Hag – but now the Red Devils are seeking to steal a sensational march on rivals Manchester City in the race for a coach lined up as Pep Guardiola’s successor.
According to Sky Germany, the Red Devils have already made contact with Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim, who has been hailed as a natural heir to Guardiola at City.
This, of course, spells worrying news for Man Utd boss Ten Hag, who is under pressure after overseeing the club’s worst-ever start to a Premier League season.

Florian Plettenberg reported on X: “Ruben Amorim is not only on the list at Manchester City as a possible replacement for Pep Guardiola, but Manchester United in particular are also interested in him.
Man Utd have already made specific inquiries about him and his situation. The Red Devils want to be prepared but still trust Erik ten Hag for now.
“Amorim, 39, is not planning a move in winter since he has big ambitions with Sporting.
“However, his contract, which is valid until 2026, includes a release clause next summer.”

Ruben Amorim: Advantage City
United’s chances of landing Amorim likely hinge on what Guardiola has planned for his future.
The Spaniard has dropped hints that he could leave the Etihad Stadium imminently but City are planning a new contract for the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss.
The Premier League champions have a strong advantage over their neighbours, not just because of their current status, but also because Sporting CP sporting director Hugo Viana is heading to the club in the summer to replace Txiki Begiristain.
If there is no prospect of Amorim leaving immediately to replace Ten Hag, it could come down to a straight shootout next summer between the Manchester clubs. United’s best chance of winning this duel is if City are not involved.
