The Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid is coming off yet another Man-of-the-Match performance after starring in the Champions League against AC Milan.

In nine appearances this season, the 21-year-old has found the back of the net six times, while also contributing to one goal so far. Given his consistently high performance levels, Wirtz is viewed as one of Europe's best talents.

This, of course, makes him a sought-after commodity and it is expected that he will depart Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, though he is still under contract until 2027 and not desperate to leave.

According to BILD, there are only four clubs that have a realistic shot at securing his signature right now.

Who could sign Wirtz?

The German outlet states that Arsenal, Man City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are the only sides that are in a position to sign Wirtz, who will command a fee of at least €150 million, according to Bayer CEO Fernando Carro.

The chances of Arsenal making a move for the attacking midfielder were recently played down, but it seems that their interest still remains. As for Man City, they are thought to be in the market for a long-term replacement for Kevin de Bruyne.

Bayern Munich have made Wirtz their top target for the upcoming summer and are ready to launch a transfer offensive. The Bavarians have been courting the German since 2020, but dealing with Leverkusen could prove difficult after the messy Jonathan Tah saga of the previous window.

Finally, Real Madrid are seen as the side with the most realistic chance of signing the wonderkid in some quarters. Los Blancos will reportedly target Bayer boss Xabi Alonso next summer - despite Carlo Ancelotti still being under contract until 2026 - and they will attempt to sign Wirtz as well.

Former Bayern technical director Michael Reschke said on Tuesday: "My personal belief is that Wirtz will sign for Real Madrid. I think Carlo Ancelotti will be replaced by a certain Spaniard currently working in the Bundesliga and then it's certainly possible that he will take his favourite player with him. My feeling is that everything could fall into place."
