The Reds failed in their attempt to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad and appear to be still after a No.6.

Even though Ryan Gravenberch’s Liverpool career is now going from strength to strength, they are on the lookout for a similar player, either in the January window or the subsequent one in the summer.

TBR Football reports that Liverpool scouts watched Atalanta’s 3-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League, with eyes on Ederson and Ademola Lookman, who had netted a brace on the night.

The report also stated that Manchester City, Tottenham and Newcastle United also had representatives at the match over the pair, who could leave Atalanta next year.

Lookman did not manage to secure a move to Paris Saint-Germain during the summer but has kept up his form for Atalanta.

Ederson was linked with Liverpool a lot this summer but the club ultimately did not push through the move. But the Reds have "Liverpool have retained their interest in Ederson since the summer and will continue to monitor the midfielder."

Daily Mail reporter Craig Hope reported last week that Newcastle liked the Brazilian player too. He posted an article revealing that Newcastle and Anthony Gordon are close to agreeing on a fresh deal. But also in the report, it was mentioned how clubs remain keen on Ederson ahead of the windows next year.

"Newcastle United's recruitment team continue to watch Atalanta's Brazilian midfielder, Ederson.

"It is thought that the club could make a move for the defensive midfielder in summer 2025, providing other players are moved on to make room for him."
