VfB Stuttgart star Jamie Leweling has a release clause worth just €25 million, according to German media.

The winger has enjoyed a truly spectacular rise to prominence in recent times. In the space of a little over a year, Leweling has gone from Bundesliga benchwarmer to goalscorer for the German national team.

Union Berlin had snapped him up from Greuther Furth in 2022, but the 23-year-old did not manage to consistently get into the team, leaving the club on loan after just one season.

He joined Stuttgart and coach Sebastian Hoeneß slowly but surely managed to turn him into a consistent Bundesliga player. Leweling's biggest weakness has never been his application, athleticism or even technical ability but rather his decision-making.

This Hoeneß managed to fix over time. When he first joined Stuttgart, there was a good argument to be made that Leweling was one of the worst finishers in the Bundesliga, but his development has been so rapid and impressive that even German national team boss Julian Nagelsmann has taken note.

Man Utd told Leweling price

Leweling was included in Nagelsmann's squad for the recent international break and enjoyed a dream debut against the Netherlands. The 23-year-old put in a Man of the Match display, scoring twice, albeit only one of his goals counted.

According to Sky Germany, Leweling's development is being followed by big clubs outside of Germany. Recently, it was revealed that Man Utd have been scouting the winger and the German outlet has now provided an update on the situation.

Florian Plettenberg reports that Leweling could be available for a relatively affordable sum due to a release clause in his deal. Depending on the league and stature of the suitor, the player can be signed for just €20m-€25m next summer.

Man Utd are evidently not the only side keen on him, with Plettenberg mentioning that several 'top clubs from England' are monitoring his development. Unless Stuttgart manage to get him to sign a new deal, it seems that they will lose another key player due to a cheap release clause after Serhou Guirassy and Waldemar Anton.
