Three-way Premier League fight for world-class winger

The presence of a world-class forward in next summer’s free agent market has inevitably led to interest from a host of Europe’s top clubs including three Premier League giants.

The summer of 2025 is currently set to have a large pool of high-quality talent available, with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alphonso Davies and Mohamed Salah all in the final year of their contracts.

Bayern Munich, in particular, could be hit with some devastating losses with Davies, Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sane all on expiring deals with no indication that any will extend their stay.

It could see the German giants lose more than €100 million worth of talent on a free, with Sane the latest to attract significant attention according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

The 28-year-old joined Bayern from Manchester City in 2020 for €49.5m and has scored 49 goals in all competitions during his four years at the club but he has struggled to play regular minutes this season following the summer arrival of Michael Olise.

Bayern appear resigned to seeing Sane leave next summer and a return to England could be on the cards, with three teams believed to be fighting for his signature.

Three-way Premier League race to sign Sane

Newcastle are said to be ‘the most determined’ to secure Sane as they look for an upgrade at right wing to take them back into European football and continue their growth as a club.

However, Arsenal are also ‘keeping an eye’ on the situation and could consider the German international as a bargain alternative to Bukayo Saka on the right, with Raheem Sterling’s loan from Chelsea unlikely to be turned into a permanent move at this stage.

Chelsea themselves are believed to be the third team in the race for Sane and see the winger as an opportunity to ‘add dynamism and experience’ to their squad, although the Blues are currently overloaded with players capable of playing out wide.

With Newcastle currently sitting outside the Champions League places, Arsenal only seeing Sane as a backup and Chelsea having many options in his role, the Bayern star may still hold out for a perfect solution as his contract winds down in the coming months.
