Arsenal have turned their attention to Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, according to the latest reports.

CaughtOffside have reported that Delap’s fine form in the Premier League has started to garner him interested suitors, both in England and across Europe.

Their story reads that: "Arsenal are known to be assessing striker options on the market at the moment, with Newcastle’s Alexander Isak a priority target, but Delap is another name under consideration by the Gunners."

Furthermore, the publication provided the names of several other clubs that are keen on the 21-year-old. They claim that the Gunners are joined by Aston Villa, Newcastle, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Ajax and PSV.

Delap has netted six goals in the Premier League so far, despite playing in a side that is in the midst of a relegation battle.

It's thought that Ipswich should only come to the table if offers came in for around €40-50m. The matter is slightly complicated as Manchester City have the option to trigger a £20m buy-back clause.

Arsenal's No.9 search

Arsenal have arguably shot themselves in the foot not buying a striker over the summer transfer window.

They have been linked to some of the most in-form strikers today including Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres.

Earlier this week Sky Sports have suggested that Jonathan David was also a target.

The club's transfer budget for next season is not clear, but if it is restricted then David is a player who makes a lot of sense for them particularly as they can sign a pre-contract agreement with the 24-year-old in the January transfer window.

Arsenal have endured a poor season so far, though they enjoyed a fabulous 5-1 win over Ruben Amorim's former club Sporting CP this week in the Champions League. On Tuesday night, the Gunners were in full throttle and they saw five different goalscorers find the net as they ran out sure-fire winners.

In the Premier League, the picture isn't as pretty. They are sat in fourth spot in the table, having won six, drawn four, and lost two of their opening 12 league games. The form has seen Mikel Arteta come in for a wave of criticism for his tactical approach.
