Jose Mourinho has never been a manager to hold back his emotions, whether that was with Porto, Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid or any other team he managed during his career – and that now includes Fenerbahce.

Mourinho burst onto the scene as a brash young manager at Porto, and when taking the Portuguese side to Man Utd on Champions League duty made headlines for the crazy celebration as his team eliminated the Red Devils in dramatic circumstances.

Having seen Costinha score a last-gasp goal to decide the tie, Mourinho sprinted down the Old Trafford touchline in the pouring rain before doing a knee slide in front of the Porto fans.

Aged 61, he attempted to repeat these celebrations amid crazy scenes as Fenerbahce beat Trabzonspor 3-2 on Sunday night.

Former Man Utd midfielder Sofyan Amrabat kicked off the wild scenes with a goal 12 minutes into second-half stoppage-time to claim victory in a game Fener had trailed 2-1 until late on.

Mourinho, though, did not have quite as much success as he did against United. At Old Trafford, he managed a graceful slide on the slick surface but in Trabzon, amid players rushing on from the bench to celebrate, he got stuck in the pitch and did an ungainly somersault.

Mourinho celebrates a big result

Not that he will care following a victory that will help to ease the pressure on him after a difficult period at the club.

Mourinho has struggled to get things going with Fenerbahce, despite a recent 1-1 home draw with Man Utd. Sitting second behind rivals Galatasaray in the Super Lig is not where they want to be, particularly after being knocked out of the Champions League in the qualifying round.

Furthermore, three successive draws had the pressure mounting on Fenerbahce before their victory over Trabzonspor, which was therefore a result Mourinho had great cause to celebrate – even if it did not quite go to plan.
