The 39-year-old will join the Red Devils when his notice period at Sporting CP ends on 11 November, with Man Utd moving quickly to secure his signature following the sacking of Erik ten Hag.

The Old Trafford outfit have been heavily linked with a number of Sporting players following the appointment of Amorim, including Viktor Gyokeres, Goncalo Inacio, Marcus Edwards and Pedro Goncalves, but they are also scouting several other stars on the continent ahead of 2025.

Casado is among their transfer targets, according to CaughtOffside, with Man Utd scouts impressed by his current form at Barcelona.

The 21-year-old made his senior debut for the Blaugrana back in November 2022, but he has only risen to prominence since Hansi Flick’s arrival this summer.

Casado has started 11 of Barcelona’s 15 matches across La Liga and the Champions League so far this season, with the Spaniard shining alongside Pedri in the middle of the park.

Liverpool and Newcastle United are also keeping tabs on Casado’s situation at Camp Nou as Premier League clubs begin to circle following his impressive start to the 2024-25 campaign.

The Spain U21 international has already notched five assists in 13 appearances this season, and Man Utd are reportedly eager to finalise a deal as they look to bolster their midfield options.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen have both been heavily linked with an exit next summer, meaning the Red Devils could be forced to sign at least one new central midfielder in 2025.

Liverpool are also interested in Casado, following their failure to land Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi this year, while Newcastle are eyeing a move amid the uncertain future of Sean Longstaff, whose contract is due to expire at the end of June.
