Amorim backed to transform Hojlund into Gyokeres
Ruben Amorim has been tipped to have a huge impact on Rasmus Hojlund when he joins Manchester United later this month.
Amorim has been appointed as Erik ten Hag’s permanent replacement at Old Trafford and he will officially join the club when his notice period at Sporting CP ends on 11 November.
The 39-year-old guided Sporting to the Portuguese top flight title last season, with Viktor Gyokeres playing an instrumental role in their success.

The Sweden international arrived from Coventry City for a fairly measly €20 million last year and he bagged 43 goals and 15 assists in just 50 games across all competitions during his debut campaign in Lisbon.
Gyokeres’ immense form has continued this season and he has already scored 20 goals since the start of 2024-25.
Man Utd have been heavily linked with a move for the Sweden star next summer, but Quique Sanchez Flores believes Amorim could turn Hojlund into a deadly forward in the mould of Gyokeres.

What has been said?
Former Watford boss Sanchez Flores managed Amorim at Benfica during the 2008-09 campaign, and he has backed the Portuguese tactician to succeed at Man Utd.
Sanchez Flores told The Sun: “I remember him as a clever, elegant and committed footballer. He was always close to his team-mates.
“The way his teams play reflects a high standard of discipline.
“He has a similar work ethic to former United manager Jose Mourinho. Only time will tell if Ruben can reach his level.
“But, more importantly, he understands the mentality of the players in this new generation.”
He continued: “With respect to Hojlund, the pack is the strength of the wolves. He is a good striker but he will only hit his high standards again if the team changes its level of performance.
“And Ruben now has the chance to train very good players in Manchester. Yes, he can do with Hojlund what he did with Gyokeres.”
