Man Utd help Chelsea sign Victor Osimhen

Manchester United could help finance Chelsea’s move for Victor Osimhen in 2025, according to L’Equipe.

The French media outlet reported on Monday that Man Utd are planning a January move for Chelsea benchwarmer Christopher Nkunku.

New Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim feels that Nkunku is the perfect inside forward for his 3-4-3 formation, and the Frenchman is keen on the move as he struggles to be a starter at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea also, it is reported, are open to a sale as Nkunku doesn’t fit Enzo Maresca’s own system.

Additionally, the Blues would then use the transfer fee received for Nkunku - which they hope will be as close to the €60 million they paid for him as possible - to sign Osimhen.

Osimhen joined Galatasaray in September in a shock loan from Napoli after a deadline day transfer to Chelsea (and to Saudi Arabia) failed to be completed.

But Chelsea could return to make another bid for Osimhen in January, and if not in the summer.

Napoli inserted a break clause in his Galatasaray contract which will allow the Italians to sell the striker during the January transfer window.

Osimhen to Galatasaray on loan

Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan for the season from Napoli until June 2025.

It is a dry loan with Galatasaray simply covering his salary from September until June at a cost of €10 million.

Osimhen has enjoyed a fantastic start to his Galatasaray career, scoring eight goals in nine games in all competitions.

Galatasaray opened negotiations for Osimhen after the Nigerian failed to complete a transfer before the end of the main European transfer window.

Osimhen saw Deadline day transfers to Al-Ahli and Chelsea collapse for financial reasons.

But Chelsea would have the money to afford Osimhen if they sell Nkunku to Man Utd.

Osimhen saw his relationship with Napoli sour last season, following the TikTok scandal in which the club’s own social media team mocked his penalty miss with Bologna.

Osimhen had a largely difficult season on the pitch, while Napoli endured a disastrous defence of the Scudetto they won in the 2022-23 season as they finished 10th in Serie A.

The Nigerian had been a key player in the Scudetto campaign, scoring 26 league goals in 32 games.
