Man Utd 'INTENSIFY' pursuit of Amorim's dream signing
Manchester United have “intensified” their pursuit of Sporting CP wonderkid Geovany Quenda, according to reports in Portugal.
The 17-year-old has emerged as a priority target for the Red Devils following the appointment of Ruben Amorim as Erik ten Hag’s replacement, with Man Utd searching for a new right wing-back in 2025.

The Old Trafford outfit have now stepped up their interest, as per A Bola, amid competition from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.
Man Utd are reportedly preparing an opening offer worth €60 million for Quenda, with their interest in the Portuguese teenager dating back to before Amorim’s appointment in late October.

Who is Geovany Quenda?
Quenda has broken into the Sporting CP senior side this season, with Amorim converting the 17-year-old into a right wing-back upon his introduction into the first-team at the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign.
Amad Diallo shone at right wing-back during Man Utd’s first game under Amorim - a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on Sunday - but the Red Devils are still expected to bolster their options in that position next year.
Quenda appears to be Man Utd’s priority target for 2025, although a fully-fledged pursuit may wait until the summer due to Amorim’s recent comments.
“I won’t be signing [Sporting players] in January, that’s what I said,” Amorim admitted upon his arrival at Man Utd.
“I don’t know about the summer. The main thing is to hold on until the summer. After that, we’ll see, Sporting’s players are very good players. I don’t know. We’ll see.”
While Man Utd are reportedly interested in Quenda, Amorim is set to be handed a smaller transfer budget than Ten Hag, with INEOS eager to reduce costs following several seasons of poor investment.
Quenda’s Sporting CP team-mates Viktor Gyokeres and Ousmane Diomande have also been linked with an Old Trafford switch in 2025.
