Man Utd Transfer News Today: Gyokeres BLOW, Amorim GREEN LIGHT, Diomande BOOST
The Ruben Amorim era at Manchester United began with a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on Sunday.
Marcus Rashford’s early opener was cancelled out by Omari Hutchinson’s first Premier League goal and after the match, Amorim was eager to stress that patience will be needed during the early weeks of his reign.
The Red Devils have been linked with a number of top-class players since Amorim’s arrival and they are expected to be busy in the market in 2025.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through the latest Man Utd football transfer news updates, including the latest on Viktor Gyokeres, Angel Gomes and Ousmane Diomande.

Viktor Gyokeres blow
Sporting CP goal machine Viktor Gyokeres is Man Utd’s priority centre forward target, but the Sweden international has rejected offers from both Arsenal and the Red Devils, as per El Nacional.
Amorim developed the 26-year-old into one of Europe’s most feared strikers during his time at Sporting and the Portuguese tactician is eyeing a reunion at Old Trafford next year.
However, Gyokeres has reportedly turned down Man Utd’s first proposal amid interest from virtually every top side across the continent.

Angel Gomes to return?
Former Man Utd academy star Angel Gomes is set to become a free agent when his contract at Lille expires next summer and Ruben Amorim has given the green light for the club to re-sign the midfielder.
That is according to CaughtOffside, who report that a return to Old Trafford is on the cards.
However, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid and Napoli are all monitoring Gomes’ current situation.
But, he reportedly favours a move back to Man Utd and the England international is hoping to receive a three-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months.
Ousmane Diomande boost
Man Utd are now in pole position to sign Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande thanks to Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford.
CaughtOffside claim that Diomande favours a move to the Red Devils, although it remains to be seen if Man Utd are willing to trigger his €80 million release clause.
Arsenal and Chelsea are among the clubs also interested in signing the Ivory Coast international next summer.
Evan Ferguson competition
Long-term Man Utd target Evan Ferguson has recently struggled for game time and form at Brighton & Hove Albion, and he could leave the club on loan in 2025.
The Sun report that Leicester City are eyeing an ambitious move for the Republic of Ireland forward, as they look to avoid relegation back to the Championship, while West Ham United are also interested in completing a deal, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
Ferguson has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for several years, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City also previous admirers.
Joshua Zirkzee update
Joshua Zirkzee continues to be linked with an early exit amid interest from Juventus and his underwhelming start to life at Man Utd.
The Red Devils are having “serious doubts” over the Netherlands star, according to the Manchester Evening News, and an immediate return to Serie A has been mooted in recent weeks.
Following the draw against Ipswich, Amorim criticised Zirkzee during his post-match interview. He told reporters: “At the end of the game we are around the box with two strikers, Josh [Zirkzee] has to understand that he has to go into the box for the crosses.”
Noussair Mazraoui praise
While Zirkzee was on the receiving end of criticism from Man Utd’s new head coach, Amorim was full of praise for fellow summer signing Noussair Mazraoui.
The Morocco international arrived at Old Trafford for a mere €15m from Bayern Munich and he performed admirably in central defence at Portman Road.
“We don’t have too many centre-backs so we have to adapt some players. I thought Noussair Mazraoui did very well,” Amorim admitted.
“He is so smart and is so important for us. He can play anywhere and that kind of player is crucial for our future.”
Ruud van Nistelrooy to Leicester?
Leicester City have approached former Man Utd assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy following the sacking of Steve Cooper.
Cooper was fired after a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday and Van Nistelrooy is one possible replacement option, as per Rudy Galetti, along with David Moyes.
The Dutchman left his post as Man Utd assistant manager following Amorim’s arrival as Erik ten Hag’s successor.
