Manchester United are reportedly eager to sign Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface in 2025, but the Nigeria international is expected to reject a transfer to Old Trafford.

Boniface, 23, enjoyed a sensational debut campaign at Leverkusen last year, notching 31 goal contributions in 34 games across all competitions as the club won their first ever Bundesliga title.

However, he has been heavily linked with a departure since Bayer Leverkusen’s historic achievement, with Chelsea among the clubs interested in signing him during the most recent summer transfer window.

Boniface ended up remaining at the BayArena, but he is being monitored by a host of top European teams, including Ruben Amorim’s Man Utd.

The Red Devils have shortlisted Boniface as a possible centre forward target, according to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, although Leverkusen are expected to demand a huge transfer fee next summer.

Joshua Zirkzee has been touted to leave Old Trafford in 2025, after a dismal start to life in the Premier League, and Man Utd have shortlisted Boniface as one possible replacement option.

However, the Nigeria forward’s recent comments suggest he is likely to turn down a Man Utd transfer.

What has Victor Boniface said?

In September, Boniface told SportyTV: “I'm not just saying this because I'm at this level, I've been saying this [since] even before I had an international passport, before I dreamed of coming to Europe.

“I don't really like the Premier League. I've said this before. So, I prefer Spanish football, German football. I'm not saying if, for example, a good team comes for me I will not go, but I'm just saying if you asked me to pick two countries I really want to live and play in - it's Germany and Spain.

"Everybody has a different choice, you know, but for me, I love the German league, I love the Spanish league.”
