Chelsea’s academy has produced some of England’s best players over the past decade, with several fully-fledged Three Lions internationals honing their craft at Cobham.

While the Blues have sold a host of academy products since Clearlake Capital’s arrival in 2022, their famed youth set-up continues to churn out talent and Tyrique George is the latest kid on the block.

But, who is George and is he set to become a Chelsea regular in the future?

What position does Tyrique George play?

George is primarily a left winger, although he can play on the right flank or in an attacking midfield role.

How good is Tyrique George?

George is widely viewed as one of Chelsea’s most promising current academy wonderkids.

He joined the club at U8 level and he has risen through the youth ranks at Cobham over the last 10 years, before making his first-team debut against Servette in August 2024.

George scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 14 league games for Chelsea’s U18 side during the 2023-24 campaign, and he stepped up to the club’s U21 team for the final few months of the season as a reward for his immense form.

In total, he registered 17 goals and 13 assists in all competitions across both age groups in 2023-24, while he was named on Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team bench on three occasions.

Enzo Maresca’s arrival as head coach saw George included in Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the USA and his first senior experience came in the Europa Conference League, with George impressing thanks to several eye-catching cameos.

Furthermore, he made the step up to England’s U19 side in September 2024 and he scored his first goal at that level against Croatia during his first camp with the team.

A dribbly winger with bags of tricks, George is extremely direct and he always looks to beat his full-back in a one-vs-one battle.

He has already broken into the first-team set-up under Maresca and despite competition from some top class forwards, George has been rewarded with game time since the start of the campaign - which is testament to his talent.

What clubs are interested in Tyrique George?

George is yet to receive significant transfer interest, but it’s likely that his situation at Chelsea is being monitored closely by multiple top clubs.

Several teams could feasibly join the race to sign him in the near future if a clear pathway to regular first-team minutes is blocked, although he is safe at Stamford Bridge for now.
