Evan Ferguson to Arsenal? The state of play revealed

Arsenal have been linked with a potential move for Brighton striker Evan Ferguson as the January transfer window approaches, with the Gunners having searched for a centre-forward since the summer.
With Gabriel Jesus’ poor form at the Emirates Stadium showing no sign of relenting and the Brazilian now comprehensively second in the pecking order behind Kai Havertz, Ferguson is just one of the names being linked with Mikel Arteta’s side.
But how likely is a deal to come to fruition?

Brighton are thought to be ready to allow Republic of Ireland international Ferguson to depart on a loan deal in January, with the 20-year-old forward having struggled to gain the favour of head coach Fabian Hurzeler following injury issues.
He has just one Premier League goal this season – also the only goal he has scored in a calendar year. Having been much-hyped after scoring a hat-trick against Newcastle in September 2023, Ferguson has done little of note since.
Who wants to sign Evan Ferguson?
Arteta’s side are not currently looking at signing Ferguson, according to GMS, with a deal for the striker said to be “unlikely”.
It is claimed that Arteta is not convinced that the striker would be an improvement of what he currently has at his disposal. Some of these questions arise from the fact that he is still coming back from an ankle injury while the Spaniard is also wary of the Brighton star’s lack of experience.

There are, however, numerous clubs seeking to sign Ferguson. Leicester City, West Ham United and Southampton are all following the striker.
One of these clubs might also make more sense to the player than going to Arsenal, where he would struggle to earn the game time that he wants. After all, Ferguson is seeking to depart Brighton in part due to his frustration at a lack of playing opportunities.
Look for him to be an active participant in the January transfer window, but don’t expect a move to Arsenal.
