Liverpool star 'might prefer Barcelona' amid Spain links
Liverpool are facing a number of obstacles in the quest to keep hold of some of their star players
The likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk all face uncertain futures with their contracts up in June 2025. The club are desperately trying to tie each man down on extended terms.
But Luis Diaz is another Anfield player who could depart after not reaching agreement with the club over a new contract, according to reports.

Spanish publication Antena 2 has stated that the Reds are facing challenges in their attempts to extend the contract of attacker, and it's very possible that he could make an exit.
It's thought that Diaz might prefer a move to Barcelona,. But other elite European clubs, such as Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan, are also keen on the former Porto man.
Trent Alexander-Arnold to Barca?
Barca have also been linked to Alexander-Arnold. In fact, earlier this month reports suggested that their head coach Hansi Flick is “obsessed” with the idea of signing the Liverpool defender.
The England international is set to become a free agent when his current contract at Anfield expires next summer and he is widely expected to join La Liga giants Real Madrid on a Bosman deal.
However, Barcelona are also interested in landing the 26-year-old and Flick wants the club to make a move as soon as possible, as per El Nacional.
Alexander-Arnold is seen as Real Madrid’s ‘dream’ target for next summer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, but Flick is “obsessed” with securing his services in 2025.
Jules Kounde is currently Barcelona’s first choice right-back, however the France international is naturally a centre-back, and he has been tipped to leave Camp Nou next year amid interest from multiple Premier League clubs.
Alexander-Arnold has now emerged as Barcelona’s preferred replacement for the ex-Sevilla man and the England star was recently asked to clarify whether or not he would sign a new contract at Liverpool.
He told Sky Sports: “I have been at the club 20 years now and I have signed four or five contract extensions… and none of those have been played out in public. This one won't be either.”
