Glazers move further out of Man Utd

The Glazers have taken another step out of Manchester United, according to the latest reports.

There are now widespread claims that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has pumped another £79m into the Premier League club.

It's thought that his United stake is now 28.94 per cent with the £79million injection, though this can't be used in the January window, according to the Daily Mail.

Ratcliffe paid around £1.2bn for 27.7 per cent of the club earlier this year. Part of the deal was that he also agreed to invest a further £237m.

A filing listed on the US Securities and Exchange Commission shows that a final payment has been made - worth £79m - and now Ratcliffe's shares are up to 28.94 per cent.

But this will not go to any transfer kitty. The Mail reports that the "investment had been earmarked for infrastructure but will be used across the club". This means that the current head coach will have to make do for the most part ahead of the end of the season.

Ratcliffe joined the club 12 months ago, when his partial takeover was ratified. During his tenure, United lifted the FA Cup but Erik ten Hag was subsequently sacked

Ratcliffe gave the Dutchman more than £200million to spend in the summer and paid him £15m directly in compensation following his dismissal. Dan Ashworth joined from Newcastle as sporting director before he parted ways with United.

Ratcliffe's unpopular moves

Ratcliffe raised matchday ticket prices to £66 per game and sacked more than 250 club staff in a series of cuts.

United and Liverpool fans are reportedly set to come together to protest rising ticket prices when the bitter rivals face off in the Premier League next month.

Supporters of both clubs are planning demonstrations during the clash at Anfield on January 5.

The Red Devils face Tottenham in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals on Thursday night while they are in 13th place in the Premier League table with six wins, four draws and six defeats.
