For years he was the golden boy at Old Trafford, but those days are well and truly over, and an exit is looming in 2025.

Ruben Amorim reportedly wants to sell the ex-England international next year, and Rashford himself has admitted that he is now looking to leave his boyhood club in search of a new adventure.

During a bombshell interview with Henry Winter just days after being omitted against Manchester City, Rashford revealed: “For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps.

“When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me.”

However, the 27-year-old is set to encounter several problems in his bid to depart Man Utd.

Marcus Rashford to leave Man Utd?

Rashford’s form has been largely underwhelming since his mesmeric 2022-23 campaign and this is a major issue for every single elite club who could potentially be interested in a deal.

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have both been linked with a move for Rashford in recent months, but the former have an extremely limited budget and the latter have shifted their transfer model to a younger demographic.

Meanwhile, clubs like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus are already well-stocked in forward areas or simply won’t be able to fund a deal.

In addition, Man Utd will be eager to sell Rashford to a foreign team, meaning a move to Arsenal or Chelsea can almost certainly be ruled out, while he would likely reject a switch to the Red Devils’ arch-rivals Liverpool and Man City.

At his prime, Rashford would’ve attracted interest from the best clubs in world football. The same can’t be said anymore.

He is an underperforming player whose wages are astronomical and whose transfer fee would likely exceed €50 million. As a result, his transfer options will be extremely limited next year.

If Rashford is able to rediscover his very best form, then he would be a shrewd pick-up for anybody. At the moment, however, he represents an extremely expensive risk.

Furthermore, a switch to the Saudi Pro League or the MLS is unlikely to interest the Englishman, and his comments about leaving Man Utd could soon prove slightly premature.
