Amorim has enjoyed a promising start to life in the Old Trafford dugout and Arteta has been impressed by how quickly the 39-year-old has been able to change Man Utd’s fortunes.

However, the Arsenal manager has insisted that Amorim must not rest on his laurels.

“You can see his [Amorim’s] fingerprints in what he wants to do straight away. He’s been very clear with what he wants to do,” Arteta admitted ahead of Arsenal’s home clash against Man Utd on Wednesday.

“What he did with Sporting was remarkable after so many years. Especially the way he did it and the way his teams are playing.

“It brings energy to a new club and the players which is always positive. But we have to focus on what we’re doing.”

Like Amorim, Arteta was appointed mid-season and during his pre-match press conference, the Gunners boss issued a warning to the new Man Utd head coach.

“How unpredictable this job is,” the Spaniard replied when asked about the key lesson he learned upon his arrival at Arsenal. “I jumped into a new job in the middle of the season in very special circumstances socially.

“Then we got hit by COVID. You can plan whatever you want but football brings different things and you have to deal with it. Take it as it comes and deal with it.”

Arsenal vs Man Utd

Amorim faces the biggest test of his Man Utd career to date when his side travels to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Red Devils head into the game following back-to-back victories over Bodo/Glimt and Everton, but Arsenal pose a different threat entirely, with Arteta’s side brimming with confidence having scored 13 goals in their last three matches.
