The Morocco international moved to Old Trafford for a measly €15 million from Bayern Munich in July and he has arguably been the Red Devils’ standout performer so far this season.

Mazraoui won Man Utd’s November Player of the Month award following a string of impressive performances in a new centre-back role and Amorim has consistently heaped praise on the 27-year-old over the past few weeks.

Ahead of the Red Devils’ trip to face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, Amorim told reporters: “He’s a top player. He understands the game.

“He knows how to attack, he’s very technical, he’s very good defensively and he’s very good one-on-one. He’s a modern player. I think he’s the future of our team.

“When you think about him, you think we need more players like Nous that can control the tempo, they are really, really good and comfortable with the ball. So, Nous, I’m really happy with him.”

Mazraoui has played 20 times in all competitions for Man Utd since his move from Bayern, including a rogue appearance as an attacking midfielder against Fenerbahce in the Europa League.

He has started all three matches as a right-sided centre-back under Amorim and he is expected to be deployed in that position once again versus Arsenal.

Ruben Amorim on Arsenal test

During his post-match press conference ahead of Man Utd’s trip to Arsenal, Amorim insisted: “It's important to be brave.

“When I say brave it’s not pressing all the time. You have to understand the moments of the game.

“We want to have the ball, we also want to dominate some moments of the game because we know in these matches it’s hard to control the game. We have to be brave and control the game.”
