Manchester United are interested in Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen, according to Spanish media.

The former Chelsea star has endured a dire campaign to date. Christensen suffered an achilles injury in the first game of the season that was actually, as far as Barcelona were concerned, a blessing in disguise.

Christensen being sidelined allowed the club to free up salary space for marquee summer signing Dani Olmo, eventually culminating in a temporary registration until December 31.

Of course, with Christensen now fit again, Barcelona have had to find a different way of registering the Spaniard. It looked as though they would fail to achieve this but the latest news out of Catalunya suggests that they have successfully found another financial 'lever' to overcome this hurdle.

As for Christensen, however, his future at the club is more uncertain than ever.

Man Utd to pounce?

Despite seemingly having raised enough funds for Olmo, Barcelona will need yet more money if they want to reinforce their side in 2025. This means that Christensen could be offloaded despite his public insistence that he will stay with the Blaugrana.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Man Utd are keeping an eye on the situation as they look for potential cut-price opportunities to bolster their floundering squad in January. As is well-known, the Red Devils won't have a lot of money to spend in January.

Christensen, who can play both centre-back and holding midfield, would be a solid addition to Man Utd's squad but they are not the only side keen. It is asserted that Juventus, too, have taken an interest in the 28-year-old.

The Bianconeri are desperate to move for a defender in January as season-ending injuries have robbed them of Juan Cabal and Gleison Bremer, while captain Danilo has been told to leave next month.
