Ajax must fear the departure of Rayan Bounida to Tottenham Hotspur, according to Henk Spaan.

The columnist of Het Parool reports that Johan Lange was in the stands during the 5-1 win of Jong Ajax over their peers of Tottenham in the Premier League International Cup. The technical director of Spurs is said to have followed Bounida's actions with special attention.

Jong Ajax notched a convincing 5-1 victory over Spurs on Wednesday, in which Bounida once again drew attention with a magnificent goal. The eighteen-year-old Belgian youth international recently made his debut in the second-tier Keuken Kampioen Divisie for Frank Peereboom's team against De Graafschap (2-0 win).

During his brief substitute appearance, Bounida immediately managed to score in his first professional minutes. The teenage sensation also found the net for Jong Ajax in the subsequent match against TOP Oss (2-1 loss).

Spaan says that someone with special attention for Bounida was in the stands during the match between the Tottenham and Ajax reserves. “Tottenham's technical director was there. For Bounida.

"In the very short term, Ajax will talk to the man who gave a defender a nutmeg in the box after 20 minutes and put the ball in the far corner. The only question is: who is in the room?

"Who is going to give Bounida, who will be allowed to talk to everyone in 12 days, the confidence that Ajax will take him seriously? Is [Ajax director Alex] Kroes there?”, the columnist wonders.

Bounida to leave Ajax?

According to Spaan, Ajax must therefore quickly work on a contract extension for Bounida. The young playmaker's deal will expire at the end of the season. However, an extension of the contract with the Dutch record champion is certainly not a given.

Far from it because the youth player currently earns €500,000 per year at Ajax. However, the Amsterdammers must cut the salary, which means that the creative midfielder will probably not be able to count on an improved proposal. It is therefore very questionable whether Bounida is interested in a contract extension in Amsterdam.

The Amsterdam club would however very much like to continue with Bounida, as Voetbal International recently wrote.

According to club watcher Tim van Duijn, this would however be 'no ABC'. According to Fabrizio Romano, the negotiations between Bounida and Ajax are in full swing, as he recently wrote. The Italian transfer journalist also reveals that the talented creative has moved to a new management, namely Muy Manero.
