EXCLUSIVE: Tottenham push for Dortmund ace over expensive Eze
Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt is being monitored by Tottenham, FootballTransfers can reveal.
The 28-year-old, known for his technical ability and creativity, has traditionally been deployed as a central midfielder or attacking playmaker during his time with Dortmund and Bayer Leverkuse, while he has played on both wings before, and even as a false nine.
Spurs believe that his abiltiy to play in a vareity of roles make him a suitor candiate for the forthcoming transfer window. With James Maddison sidelined due to injury earlier this season, Spurs feel that they lacked a creative presence in midfield.

It is thought that Brandt could provide a dual benefit, offering cover for Maddison while also giving Ange Postecoglou the tactical flexibility to rotate his frontline.
Sources close to the club suggest that funds are limited for Tottenham in January, with significant investment unlikely until the summer.
This financial reality has dampened the likelihood of Spurs pursuing big-name targets such as Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, whose valuation is likely to exceed the club's mid-season budget.
In contrast, Brandt could represent a more affordable option, especially if Dortmund are willing to negotiate. With his contract set to expire in 2025, the German side may be open to offers to avoid losing him for a reduced fee down the line. W
Eze's future
At Dortmund, he has been a consistent performer but has struggled at times to cement his place in a star-studded squad.
Over the summer,Eze's family was invited by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to attend the last North London Derby at the end of last season, a match Spurs lost 3-2.
However, the deal took a sudden twist when Eze’s representatives informed Ange Postecoglou’s side that Arsenal had made contact with the England international, urging him to put the move on hold and reassess his options before making a final decision.
But a move to both clubs didn't happen and Eze stuck with his current side Palace.
