Antony played a 27 minute cameo against Wolves and failed to dazzle or impress at all.

Starting on the bench, Antony was called upon by Ruben Amorim with Man Utd 1-0 down. He entered the pitch after 63 minutes, replacing Leny Yoro.

Antony immediately took up his regular station in the right wing-back role and... failed to move the needle completely.

No doubt Antony came into the game with great enthusiasm and energy. There was certainly gusto and intent behind his play as he tried to make an impact and turn things around for Man Utd.

But intent isn't enough at the top level, there has to also be quality. And Antony is unfortunately too often found short in this matter.

His appearance against Wolves did nothing to alter the game state or meaningfully cause Wolves any real problems. They handled him with just as much ease as they handled his team-mates.

In 27 minutes Antony didn't have a single shot on goal (in a very sad fact, Man Utd strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee played 79 and 11 minutes respectively and also failed to have a single shot) and one off-target.

Completing 15/16 passes and creating one chance, it wasn't the worst display of his Man Utd career but it lacked anything truly compelling to convince anyone at Man Utd that he is worthy of more game-time and more chances.

"There's concrete interest"

“Many clubs have approached us for Antony’s move in January. These clubs wanted to understand the situation for Antony, so I can confirm that there’s concrete interest,” Antony's agent Junior Pedroso recently told Fabrizio Romano.

"To be fair, Manchester United have never expressed any interest to sell or loan out Antony to us," Pedroso added.

However, Pedroso did point out that the player was open to leaving the club on loan: "If the club thinks it would be a good idea to loan Antony out in January so he can get more minutes and regain his trust, we will work together on that option."
