Isak breaks silence on Arsenal transfer with ‘DREAM’ admission
Newcastle striker Alexander Isak has been discussing his future amid transfer rumours linking him with a potential move to Arsenal.
Isak has been in red-hot form with Newcastle this season, scoring 13 goals and adding four assists in just 18 Premier League matches.
The 25-year-old was already one of the most coveted strikers in world football, yet this has only served to enhance his reputation.
Arsenal have long been classed as one of the leading admirers of the Newcastle hitman, who is expected to fetch around €120 million in the transfer market should the Magpies choose to sell.
A deal is not expected at this point in the season, yet there is no doubt that Mikel Arteta would welcome a striker of his calibre to the Emirates Stadium if he had the opportunity.
Isak has spoken out about his future, admitting that it is a “dream” to play at Premier League level.
"Playing football at this level has always been a dream and probably the main dream that I've had," the striker, who is under contract with Newcastle until 2028, told Prime Video Sweden.
"Playing in the Premier League for a club like Newcastle with a fan base like they have here is extra special."
Isak is, therefore, not publicly pushing for a move to Arsenal at this point.
How good a season is Isak having?
Isak has been one of the leading strikers in the Premier League this season according to data analysis firm SciSports.
The experts rate his performance as the fourth-best among strikers in England’s top-flight, behind only Ollie Watkins, Erling Haaland and Joao Pedro.
Isak sits joint third in the Premier League top scorer chart with 13 goals. Only Mohamed Salah (18) and Haaland (16) surpass him in this regard.
Indeed, it is this quality that makes him so attractive to Arsenal. The Gunners’ leading scorer this season in the Premier League is Kai Havertz with just seven goals.
Isak’s all-round game, however, has been exceptional, with his ability to create chances for others another major plus point.
Indeed, this is simply confirmation of his excellent 2023/24 campaign, which saw him score 21 Premier League goals.
