FootballTransfers understands that Arsenal have made several enquiries into the availability of Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson.

The Swedish youngster has been plying his trade with the Eagles since the summer of 2023 when he completed a €9 million move from Malmo, which was an Allsvenskan record at the time.

Even before his transfer to Frankfurt, Larsson was regarded as a hugely exciting talent and he previously had a trial stint with Chelsea. However, he opted to continue his development in his native Sweden before moving to Germany.

Frankfurt have earned a sparkling reputation as a club that hones talent and helps players reach a new level and this is certainly also the case for Larsson. The 20-year-old outperformed expectations in his first season and was already linked with Premier League clubs last summer.

The Bundesliga outfit managed to keep hold of the all-action box-to-box midfielder, but there is an acceptance at Frankfurt that he will take the next step before long as he has continued on an upward trajectory.

Indeed, FootballTransfers has been able to confirm that Arsenal have enquired about the Swede several times with an insistence that suggests that they are ready to firm up their interest this year.

Arsenal want Larsson

Frankfurt have done a good job of tying their most important assets down to favourable contracts that don't include release clauses. The same holds true for Larsson who was handed a surprise extension until 2029 at the beginning of October.

It was previously suggested that Frankfurt would only consider selling Larsson for a fee of around €80 million, but FootballTransfers has been unable to verify this exact number, which appears excessive despite his undeniable talent.

What will interest Gunners fans is that Arsenal expressed a willingness to pay a noteworthy sum for the young Swede during the exploratory talks that were held with his representatives.

FootballTransfers previously revealed that Arsenal are looking to add a young, dynamic midfielder to their squad in 2025, with veterans Thomas Partey and Jorginho coming to the end of their contracts.

Larsson fits the bill and Arsenal are known to have a long-standing interest in the 20-year-old. However, they are far from his only admirers and we have been told that Tottenham have also enquired about him.

Arsenal's ongoing pursuit of Martin Zubimendi is not linked to the interest in Larsson. Should Jorginho and Partey both depart, Arsenal would try to bring in another midfielder in addition to Zubimendi.
