Unai Emery's men have enjoyed plenty of highlights in the Champions League so far this term, but it has on the whole been a frustrating campaign domestically.

Donyell Malen deal agreed

The first signing of January has all been all but wrapped up, according to various sources. After some haggling, Aston Villa and Borussia Dortmund have finally struck a deal for Donyell Malen.

The Dutchman is finally getting the Premier League move he has been pushing for for over a year, while Dortmund receive a handsome fee for a player who has often flattered to deceive.

According to German outlets, Dortmund will pocket the €30 million they had demanded, while English sources speak of a deal in the region of €26m including bonuses.

Jhon Duran offer

TBR Football claims that West Ham have reignited their interest in Jhon Duran after chasing him seemingly all summer. The outlet goes so far as to suggest that an official bid has been made.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Villa consider Duran untouchable in January, especially after his contract extension in November. Despite interest from 'many' clubs, the striker is going nowhere.

Douglas Luiz not keen on return

Douglas Luiz has had a difficult start to life at Juventus after leaving Aston Villa in the summer and there have been reports that he is already open to leaving again.

In October, Monchi admitted that he would love to re-sign the Brazilian and Villa have been named among the clubs keen on him. However, according to TuttoMercatoWeb, Luiz is not interested in returning and would favour a move to Man Utd or Man City.

Eduardo Burgos, meanwhile, reports that the player's supposed willingness to leave has been blown out of proportion and that both Luiz and Juventus agree that a sale would not be the right course of action at present.

Loic Bade enquiry

According to L'Equipe, Aston Villa have enquired about Sevilla defender Loic Bade. The France international has a €50m release clause and has been repeatedly linked with a Premier League move in recent months.

Discussions over a potential transfer appear to be at an early stage as things stand.

Oscar Mingueza push

Fabrizio Romano reports that Aston Villa remain keen on Celta Vigo full-back Oscar Mingueza despite the fact that no official bid has as yet been made.

Monchi was spotted in attendance at a recent game, but he has so far been mostly preoccupied with wrapping up the deal for Malen. Celta insist that Villa must meet Mingueza's €20m release clause.

His former club Barcelona would be owed €10m of that fee in the event of the move materialising.
