Dani Olmo is ready to leave Barcelona after becoming frustrated with the manner in which they have dealt with his registration case.

Barca have failed to register the Spain international for the second half of the LaLiga season after being given special dispensation to sign him for the first part of the campaign.

The Camp Nou side had their latest appeal kicked out by LaLiga and the Spanish FA (RFEF), and while president Joan Laporta is ready to take the case all the way to the legal courts, as things stand, Olmo cannot play any football.

The situation has become critical for Barcelona, with the prospect of a €168 million hole in their already fragile budget being blown open.

To make matters worse, there are reports that Olmo is seriously considering taking up another option, with a clause in his contract indicating that he will be able to leave as a free agent due to the situation.

“Dani Olmo is really upset with FC Barcelona for how they have treated his situation and especially for the lack of transparency from Joan Laporta,” TodoFichajes reports.

What next for Olmo?

Barcelona cannot loan Olmo out as his registration does not belong to them, but the former RB Leipzig star could depart on a six-month deal and return on 1 July to continue his current deal.

While this has been touted as a viable solution to a complex problem, there are claims that he could instead choose to move to Manchester United, Arsenal or Chelsea, who have all been linked with the attacking midfielder, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €47.3m that Barca will not be able to exploit.

“Given the way things have been handled by the Barcelona board and the midfielder's fury, everything could end in disaster for the club's coffers, since Olmo would consider leaving the club permanently and leaving a significant hole in Barcelona's already damaged bank account,” the report continues.

Another potentially attractive feature of the Premier League’s interest in Olmo is that he could receive a wage rise if he were to complete a move.

Barcelona are said to be doing everything in their power to defuse the situation.

What has Olmo said?

Olmo has not spoken publicly about the situation but his agent Andy Barra has discussed the player’s plans.

“It’s a stressful situation for Dani as it would be for any other player. But he’s a great player and person, he’s trying to be calm,” he told GiveMeSport.

“Of course, Dani is a winner and he loves to play the games, not to watch them!

“We are not negotiating with any club. Dani is a Barcelona player and he wants to be a Barcelona player. He has made a big effort in his life to be at Barcelona. It was his desire for a long time.

“Barcelona is the first and last option! Dani, his father, family, me, we’re not thinking about other options.”

Olmo’s camp, therefore, directly contradicts the claims made in the media claiming that he is pushing to leave.
