A host of Chelsea fans have urged their club to sign Ipswich Town forward Liam Delap amid links with a move for the England U21 international.

Delap delivered an exquisite performance as Ipswich beat Chelsea 2-0 in late December and he scored for the second consecutive week during the Tractor Boys’ fixture against Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

The former Manchester City academy star won and converted a penalty at Craven Cottage, after delivering the exact same result against Enzo Maresca’s side on 30 December.

Both penalties were soft, but Delap dispatched his two efforts with consummate ease and he looks ready to join one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

The 21-year-old has eight league goals so far this campaign, and he is being monitored by the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United following his immense start to life at Ipswich.

However, Chelsea appear to be the frontrunners in the race to sign him this summer, and several Blues supporters are eager for their club to land Delap.

Nicolas Jackson has developed nicely since Maresca’s arrival from Leicester City, but he missed a number of chances versus Crystal Palace and Chelsea remain in the market for a new centre forward amid Christopher Nkunku’s uncertain future at Stamford Bridge.

Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres have both been linked with a move to Chelsea over the past 12 months, however they currently appear more likely to join Man Utd as Ruben Amorim pushes for a new striker.

Furthermore, Blues boss Maresca worked with Delap at City and he is reportedly keen to be reunited with the Englishman at Stamford Bridge.
