The Argentine winger is seemingly on his way out of Manchester United following the revelation that the Red Devils would reluctantly sell him if a suitable offer were to arrive.

This stance, informed by Man Utd's Profit and Sustainability concerns, has piqued the interest of clubs around Europe, chiefly Chelsea and Napoli. The former are looking for a replacement for Mykhailo Mudryk following his provisional doping ban, while the latter are trying to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who has joined PSG for €70 million.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have made at least two enquiries into the availability of Garnacho since the end of December and the Blues are said to be very keen on the 20-year-old.

It is therefore notable that the owners of Garnacho's Lead3rs agency, Carlos Cambeiro and Quique de Lucas Martinez, were at Stamford Bridge to watch Chelsea's clash with Wolves. The two made no attempt to keep their presence a secret either as they shared pictures of the game on social media.

Romano on Garnacho

Also on Monday, transfer insider Romano provided a major update on the situation of Garnacho, revealing that Chelsea actually pondered a potential swap deal at one point.

"Napoli have been pushing a lot on the player side," Romano said. "So Napoli made contact, Napoli have been pushing from the financial point of view but also from the technical point of view: the project they have, the top coach.

"Antonio Conte has been pushing for Garnacho, but Manchester United are asking for very big money. So when you see reports of €40, €45 million, United are absolutely not accepting that kind of fee for Garnacho. And then there is Chelsea.

"Chelsea already since the end of December started making inquiries for wingers. After what happened with Mudryk, they started making inquiries. Chelsea also made an inquiry at the end of December and in recent days again for Garnacho.

"They see the talent, they see the potential and they feel there is a possibility for Man Utd to open doors for Garnacho's exit in the January transfer window, also for Financial Fair Play [reasons]. Again, it has to be a big proposal, but Chelsea have a feeling that this could be a possibility.

"My information is that Chelsea, at the beginning of the transfer window, end of December, wanted to consider a potential swap deal with Man Utd. Then nothing evolved.

"Now, I'm not aware of anything imminent in terms of swap deals. But Chelsea's idea at the beginning of the window was to try to discuss a swap with Man Utd."
