Chelsea have reportedly reached a “verbal agreement in principle” to sell Cesare Casadei to Torino for a fee of €13 million.

The Italy U21 international has been heavily linked with a Stamford Bridge exit during the January transfer window and he is now on the verge of sealing a return to Serie A.

Casadei joined Chelsea from Inter Milan for €14.9m in 2022, but he has only made a total of 17 first-team appearances for the west London giants and he is yet to feature in the Premier League so far this season.

Lazio and Torino have both expressed their interest in signing Casadei this month, but the latter are set to win the race for his signature, according to Fabrizio Romano.

He posted on X: “Torino have reached verbal agreement in principle with Chelsea for Cesare Casadei for €13m plus sell-on clause over 20%.

“More steps will follow on player side including medical tests, all parties careful until the end after Lazio were also close to getting the deal done.”

Chelsea’s January transfer business

Casadei will become the second Chelsea player to leave the club on a permanent deal so far this month, following Zain Silcott-Duberry’s move to Bournemouth.

Meanwhile, Renato Veiga (Juventus), Alex Matos (Oxford United) and Jimmy-Jay Morgan (Gillingham) have all departed Stamford Bridge on loan deals until the end of the campaign.

However, Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka have been unable to secure transfers away from west London, and Axel Disasi’s proposed move to Aston Villa is currently being blocked by the Blues.

Despite interest in Mathys Tel, Alejandro Garnacho and Marc Guehi, Chelsea are yet to secure their first new arrival of the winter window. Trevoh Chalobah has, however, been recalled from his loan spell at Crystal Palace amid a defensive injury crisis at the club.
