CONFIRMED: Chelsea join race to sign Evan Ferguson
Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to sign Brighton & Hove Albion forward Evan Ferguson before the end of the January transfer window.
The Blues are long-term admirers of Ferguson and they are now set to pursue a late move for the 20-year-old amid Nicolas Jackson’s recent struggles in front of goal.
The Senegal international has failed to score in each of his last seven Premier League appearances, with Chelsea winning just one game during that time.

As a result, Enzo Maresca’s side are eager to sign a new striker before the winter window closes and they have joined the race for Ferguson, according to The Guardian.
The Republic of Ireland international has only started two Premier League matches so far this season, due to form and fitness, and he is currently sidelined with an ankle injury that has kept him out of action since late December.
Brighton are willing to sell Ferguson this month, although it’s reportedly unclear whether Chelsea are interested in a loan or permanent deal for the 20-year-old.
Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen, Bournemouth, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are also monitoring the Irishman's situation at the AMEX Stadium, as per The Guardian, with an exit deemed to be on the cards before the end of Deadline Day.

Chelsea eye another Brighton raid
If Chelsea are able to finalise a deal for Ferguson, he would become the sixth Brighton player to move to Stamford Bridge since 2022.
The Blues have also signed eight members of staff from Brighton since Clearlake Capital’s arrival at the club, although Graham Potter, Bruno Saltor, Billy Reid, Bjorn Hamberg and Kyle Macauley have all departed west London already.
In addition to Ferguson, Chelsea are said to be interested in Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, with the five-time Premier League champions tipped to lodge a “mammoth” bid for the Cameroon international in 2025.
