Chelsea are ready to bid again for Marc Guehi despite striking an agreement for Mamadou Sarr on Monday, according to a report.

The Blues are busier this month than initially anticipated. Injuries to Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana, as well as Renato Veiga deciding that he wants to leave, have compelled the club to act on the defensive front, while Mykhailo Mudryk's provisional doping ban has also seen them target wingers.

On Monday, the Blues struck an agreement with BlueCo affiliate Strasbourg for the transfer of Mamadou Sarr, a 19-year-old centre-back who will join the club in the summer for €20 million.

As Chelsea and Strasbourg have already used up their three permitted loan spots, it was decided to arrange a deal for the next window rather than sign him now and loan him back to the Alsatians.

Despite this, Chelsea are also expected to launch a new offensive for Marc Guehi.

Chelsea to pursue Guehi in the summer

At least that is according to The Athletic, which reports that Chelsea will bid for the Crystal Palace superstar again in the summer again briefly considering him as an option this month.

The Blues are convinced that Guehi, who is only under contract until 2026, will be significantly cheaper in the summer and are willing to wait until then to reignite their interest.

Guehi came through Chelsea's academy but left for Crystal Palace in 2021 and has established himself as one of the Premier League's best defenders.

Chelsea do not have a buy-back clause but they do have matching rights and a sell-on percentage, with the latter meaning that they would not have to pay as much as others to sign Guehi, although there have been suggestions that they would have to waive this perk to strike a deal.
