Erling Haaland’s agent has hinted that he will earn over €1 billion across the course of his new nine-and-a-half year contract at Manchester City.

The Norway superstar has been heavily linked with a lucrative move to either Barcelona or Real Madrid over the past few months, but he has ended such speculation by committing his long-term future to the Etihad Stadium outfit.

Haaland has signed a new Man City contract that runs until 2034, with the deal dubbed as “among the most lucrative in sporting history.”

Haaland will be on the verge of turning 34 years old when his renewed contract expires, while Man City have removed any exit clauses that were in his previous deal.

The Guardian claims that Haaland will be paid around €600,000 per week (£500,000), but comments made by Haaland's agent, suggest that he could earn over €1 billion in wages before his Man City contract expires.

What has been said?

Rafaela Pimenta, Haaland’s agent, played a key role in his transfer to Man City back in 2022 and she believes her client is in line to amass a fortune during his career.

In 2023, she told French outlet Telefoot that Haaland was worth €1 billion and she clarified her reasoning in a interview with Flashscore in June 2024.

“When I said that this amount [€1 billion] corresponded to his value, I wasn't talking about his transfer value," Pimenta said.

“I was referring to the value of a top player at that age, with enormous room for improvement - and when I said that, he hadn't even done the treble - a player who finished as top scorer in the Premier League despite being injured for two months. He's a player with great potential.

"What do I see when I make this estimate? I see all the financial considerations that revolve around him, even though he's a serious player who works hard, is organised, focused and never gets lost,” Pimenta continued.

“He's been at Manchester City for two years now and there's never been any gossip about him. His profile represents a huge value in the eyes of sponsors and clubs, as well as in terms of shirt sales and media exposure.

“And all that, put together: ticket sales, TV rights, everything Erling will earn over the course of his career, I'm convinced it will exceed a billion.”

If the Guardian's information is accurate, however, Haaland is likely to pocket 'only' €296m over the duration of his Man City contract from the club - a tremendous figure but a long way short of the billion that Pimenta previously billed.
