Manchester City striker Erling Haaland faces a reckoning back in Norway over the new contract that he has signed with Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions.
Haaland signed a new deal with Man City that sees him contracted to the Etihad Stadium club until 2034, effectively committing his whole career to his current employers.
In return for that loyalty, the Norway international striker will be richly rewarded. Agent Rafaela Pimenta previously boasted that Haaland would make €1 billion over the course of his career, while this contract is worth a reported €600,000 per week to the hitman.

Back in Norway, the size of the deal has sparked a significant debate, with Aftenposten pointing out that the 24-year-old earns in two days what it took Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to earn in a year when he first signed for Manchester United from Molde in 1996.
“The question is whether Haaland deserves one million krone (£72,000) a day in the UK - a country where children go to school hungry. Is that fair? Are athletes worth that much money? Is there a person on the planet who deserves such a high salary? I can’t think of any,” Erlend Nesje writes.
Haaland’s new deal will secure his place as football’s most valuable player, with an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €149.8 million.

Doubts have also been placed on just how secure Haaland’s contract is with Man City, meanwhile.
Aftenposten points out: “If Haaland wants to go to Real Madrid or Barcelona in three or four years, it can be done. There is always a clause.”
Indeed, reports have been filtering out of Spain that suggest there are two clauses that will allow Haaland to leave.
Firstly, if City are relegated due to their potential violation of 115 Fair Play Rules, he will be allowed to depart, and equally if the Cityzens miss out on Champions League football for any non-sporting reason he can go, Cadena Ser claims.
Real Madrid, Liverpool and PSG are on alert, the Spanish source claims.
